Cadder Community Centre

Cadder Housing Association took on the management of the former community centre and sports hall in 2010 and then acquired the land and buildings in 2014 from Glasgow City Council.  We have worked with the local community over a number of years to develop plans to build a new community centre.

The design of the new centre was informed by extensive consultation with local residents and users of the former community centre and their needs, wants and aspirations of a new centre were categorised into the following themed uses:

  • Recreation & Leisure;
  • Learning & Development;
  • Youth & Community Activities;
  • Functions and Events;
  • and a Community Café.

The new community centre is a state of the art community facility which provides sufficient rooms for dedicated activities and flexible space to achieve the themed uses.  It was built at a cost of £3.1m and we would like to thank the funders for the project, they are: Big Lottery; Scottish Government, Glasgow City Council, Climate Challenge Fund, as well as a contribution by Cadder Housing Association.

The community centre opened in June 2016 and we are attracting organisations and groups to provide activities and services in the centre, these include: parents and toddlers sessions; youth activities; recreational sessions e.g. yoga, dance, etc; credit union, Elected Members’ surgeries and much more.  There are also rooms dedicated for a Community Gym, Snooker and IT.  Our aim is to have events, activities and services for all residents in Cadder.
